UGC videos
A person people believe, not a brand bumper they skip.
People trust a person in a kitchen more than a polished opener. The mistake is to sand that footage until the person disappears. Then you paid for trust and edited it out.
Trust is the format
The setting is doing as much work as the words.
A real room, a real hand, a sentence that sounds like it was said and not read. That is why this format gets watched when a brand bumper does not. Viewers have learned what an ad looks like. They have also learned what a person recommending something looks like.
We do not rebuild that into a commercial. We tighten it. The ramble goes. The point stays. The person still sounds like the person who filmed it, because that sound is the reason to run the video at all.
If it could have been a studio
Then it should have been a studio, and a different kind of video. UGC that secretly wants to be a brand film ends up as neither. It is too stiff to trust and too loose to feel premium.
Polish that removes the person
Color, music, and captions can help. A new voice usually does not.
The temptation is to fix the lighting, replace the voice with a cleaner read, and add a music bed that sounds like every other ad. Each of those can be right in a small dose. Together they delete the thing you filmed a person to get.
We keep the voice. We might trim a stumble if it hurts the point. We do not replace the person with an announcer and hope the kitchen background is enough to fake the trust back.
The product has to be obvious
A likable person talking is not yet an ad for the product.
Somewhere in the cut, the product is in frame and the viewer knows what it is. Not a glimpse. Not a mention they can miss. If they liked the person and cannot name the thing, the video worked as content and failed as a recommendation.
We place that moment where it cannot be skipped past by accident. Early enough that people who leave still saw it. Clear enough that it does not need a paragraph under the post to explain.
The same cut can post and run
You should not need one version for the feed and a second, stiffer version for the ad account. If the cut is honest and the product is clear, it can do both. Two videos to say one thing is how this format gets expensive and inconsistent.
When it starts to feel like an ad
That is the line. Cross it and the advantage is gone.
A script that sounds written by a committee. A claim no person would say out loud. A graphic package from a brand deck dropped on top of a bedroom. Viewers will not write you a note about it. They will scroll, and the video will perform like the ads they already skip.
We watch the cut the way a stranger would. If it feels like a person, it stays. If a line sounds like a slogan, the line changes or it goes. The format only has one advantage, and it is easy to edit away.
